So I've been in the market for a 2010/2011 Sport. I let my dream car (2010 Lux Black/Black with Piano trim and Rear Entertainment) get away, when it was sold at a local dealer 20 minutes after I saw it and called the next morning to put a deposit down. The price was unbelievable for the # of miles on the car. Now, I'm left with not as perfect options - in my mind, but I need to buy a new car in the next few months.
There are two 2010 Lux's left locally. I've researched all surrounding areas and there is nothing else available currently in the same price range. One with 40k miles. And another with 20k miles. Both basically the same car (e.g. options, trim, tire wear, etc.). The dealership is asking $5k more for the car with 20k less miles. It seems like a lot. But after a lot of back and forth, they say they cannot budge at all on prices. I have to buy through the dealership because if I go with a certified pre-owned car (6k/100 mile warranty) I can get 1.9% financing. My initial budget was $50k. But I'm stretching it a little to get the remodeled 2010 interior, etc. And I'd be stretching it even more if I were to plunk down another $5 for the car with 20k miles.
Thoughts on the extra 5k for the car with 20k less miles? Is it worth it for 5 grand?
Advice for buying the car - what did you wish you knew before you bought that you know now?
I've always wanted a sport. I've heard some horror stories about reliability. But I've also heard some extremely positive feedback. My only other option would be a 2010 BMW X5 48i - which would cost less than the sport.
I've test driven two different 2010 Lux's. I really like the car. My wife who rode in the rear seat, however, said that the rear side ride was extremely bumpy and terrible. Her comment was she didn't know if she could make a long road trip in the rear seat? I didn't get to ride in the back but have heard about the head room. Comments on the rear seat for those who have the car?
