Thoughts? Any questions or things I should definitley ask dealer about car before purchasing? It's out of town so I haven't seen it in person.
sounds like a great deal to me considering the prices you were quoting on the 2010's with higher mileage. Go for it. if you are really unhappy with the stereo system, upgrade the speakers aftermarket and add an amp. It will probably sounds better than premium sound and cost less. Its not ideal, but you could always stream SAT from your cell phone.

oh, and I should add - ask them to measure the tire wear depth, brake pad depth, and ask for the full service history. run a carfax on it also. its only a year old with normal milage, but I wonder why it is being sold so soon so do your due diligence.

The CarFax looks ok to me. No entries except an oil & filter and maintenance inspection/electrical system checked at 7,000 miles. It was traded in at a local dealer here in the DC area right before the 1 year mark on a lease?

The only thing that concerns me is that it looks like the car was leased in New York City. The dealer with the other car that is $1k has cautioned me not to buy a car that was driven in NYC. But I'm sure he wants me to buy his car.

Here's another interesting twist. My brother stumbled on a 2010 Sport Lux in Houston with 35k miles from a used car dealer that says they bought it from Land Rover after a trade. It's not at a Jag Dealer, so I'd be losing out on the CPO. But it has every option (Ext Leather, Rear Seat Ent, etc.). And the dealer would be willing to sell for $47,5. I ran the CarFax on it and it's got entries at the Houston Land Rover dealership at 9,100 miles, 10,500 miles, 13,900 miles, 29,020 miles, and 29,900 miles but all it says it "Vehicle Serviced"? This seems like a really good deal?

The miles don't bother me that much as I rarely drive the car. So in 4-5 years, I'll probably have only put another 20-40k miles on it.

What I do know is the 2010's in service date was September 2009. So does that mean it was one of the first 2010's made? With the regular warranty only gives me another year and 3 mos left.

On the other hand, the 2011's in-service date was March 2011. So I'm looking at 5+ years of warranty with the CPO.

I LOVE all the extra features on the 2010. And it is $8,500 cheaper. But the warranty thing definitely concerns me. I guess I could buy an extended warranty? What also concerns me is the multiple "Vehicle Serviced" entries on the CarFax, if it was something major wouldn't they have to list what exactly was done? I don't understand why a car would be just normally serviced at 20,020 and then again at 20,900?

yeah, something is up with it - these cars are only serviced once a year. it could have been something minor, but maybe not.

I'd by the cheaper one with more mileage and buy an extended warranty right away. The aftermarket extended warranties tend to cover many more parts than the CPO and last longer (in terms of years after service)
2008 RRS HSE Lux, Alaska white, Ivory/Ebony interior, fully loaded, supercharged front and side grilles, 20" supercharged wheels, 2010+ tail lights retrofit, complete supercharged Brembo brake retrofit, supercharged exhaust tips + center resonator delete.
2008 BMW 550i Sport, Carbon Black Metallic, Beige Dakota, fully loaded.

Re: Buying a 2010 Sport Lux Today - Need Help!

So, I called the dealership where the 2010 with the more miles was originally purchased and serviced. They told me they could not disclose or send me any information on the service history of the vehicle as it is "the last owner's personal information".

All they could tell me was that the vehicle was serviced regularly every year and that it's last regular service was in July when they also put new brakes on. As I mentioned, the CarFax shows "Vehicle Serviced" after July in August and November. They only info I could get out of the dealership was that in November they "replaced a vent". I'm not sure what that even means?

Since I'm not buying the car from a Land Rover dealer any recommendations on how to proceed with this? I want to make sure I'm not getting a car with issues but all I can see is "Vehicle Serviced" on CarFax and Land Rover won't tell me anything else because it's "personal information".

BTW. The regular 4 year/50k warranty on the car expires next October; it looks like it was an early 2010 that was delivered in October 2009. I'd be interested to hear if I should get an extended warranty (and if so where, when and what type).

Customers don’t expect you to be perfect.
They do expect you to fix things when they go wrong.

I'd try and do a poll on people with their extended warranties experiences when you figure out which company you are considering purchasing from. I have only heard bad things about them - essentially they take your money and dont ever pay a claim.

Expect to pay 3-7k for 4yr 100k miles depending on how many miles the truck has and where you get the warranty from.

Thanks, I will look into the warranty info.

Does anyone have any thoughts on CarFax and dealer not being able to disclose service records? Or what "replaced a vent" means?

I just want to make sure I'm not buy someone else's problems. But the CarFax history only has "Vehicle Serviced" for each of the entries as noted above.
