    Aftermarket Motorized Rear Hatch Opener

Before anyone says this looks really sketchy, watch the YouTube video! Thoughts? It looks pretty legit... Plus, you don't lose the dual-opening functionality.

sketchy doesn't even begin to describe it.

Actually just kiddin' my only concern was the Engrish on the Ebay ad. Amortizators? They look like standard support cylinders on the video.
From what I could gather there's more to the Touareg's auto open than just the support cylinder, there's a hydraulic pump and hose also, they're just showing a black plastic box which makes me very suspicious, the russian e-mail pretty much seals the deal for me, nothing personal of course, our nanny is Russian and I love her like my own mother but I rather deal with a tried and true good old nigerian email address when it comes to scams.

Love the idea and I would pay 1k for it but definitely need more info.

So for $1000 you get a radio signal receiver box and still have to go buy VW parts? Well at least you have the chance to give the guy your email address if you want any info about the product.
My mind is aglow with whirling, transient nodes of thought careening through a cosmic vapor of invention.

...more then one year already offer a Rear Door Opener for RRsport 05-11. It's two different: pneumatic drive and electric drive. The cost is about 1800$ for all.

Dang, that one looks like it could kill someone....

(which judging by its country of origin might just be the objective behind it?)

I believe the killing is still done beforehand...this makes it easier to load the body in the car.

Space isn't remote at all. It's only an hour's drive away if your car could go straight upwards.

Re: Aftermarket Motorized Rear Hatch Opener

I have done this mod on another vehicle and there is a lot more involved. We had to remove all the trim on the inside of the tailgate door and the upper & inside C pillars of the vehicle. Then we had to remove the original shocks and replace with new ones with different mounting holes and support. Installing the motor was also difficult because the trim had to be cut out and modified to fit back over. We had to drill into the body to install the motor supports. Finally the trunk lock/latch had to be replaced with an electronic release type. After all of the above the vehicle remote had to be programmed to work and of course no dealer knows what the heck to do unless you go to an Indy shop which has access to the software. I wouldn't dream of doing it again! Lol. Just not worth the trouble unles it came in a complete kit that used all the same mounting holes and locations etc
