no start, no fuel from regulator

    Hi team

I replaced the fuel filter and now have a no start issue. I have spark and injector pulse. Pump whines with key on. I don't have a fuel pressure test kit yet, but I find fuel by disconnecting the filter and checking fuel line at rail. However, no fuel in return line. Pressure regulator won't hold vacuum, but no fuel leaking through diaphragm.

    What gives?

Are you sure you put the fuel filter on correctly and not backwards?

    Absolutely, flow arrow is clear.

This is madness. Is there any way to "presurize" the system besides cranking it for 6-10 seconds? I didn't depressurize the system by stalling it, I just dealt with spill by catching gasoline in a jar - this is the only thing I can figure may have done damage.

I will update when I get my hands on a fuel pressure test kit.

Try reinstalling the old filter. The new one could have a defect? Not sure how this could be possible; however, the new filter is the only variable that has changed.

Locettc's advise was good, but not related to the filter. It made me thing about other recent changes. When I replaced my head gaskets I also put on new plugs and wires. While my test light showed spark, my multimeter showed very low voltage coming from the coil. I had installed resistor plugs and suppression wires. I see elsewhere this is not recommended.

I traced my no start issue to a bad coil. I will be changing the plugs too, but I will keep the wires.

    Fuel pressure tested good.
