I love all the photos so I had to add mine to show what "bottom of the barrel"looks like but one day
"The Beast"
will be supreme !!!!!
I had it for sale and decided to keep it for now. To emotionally attachment to it![]()
You should see the people moving out of the way when I am coming up behind them. I cruise it at about 80 everywhere I go. Runs like a champ but needs a new exhaust along with a host of other repairs.

Maybe I should have it muddy or something. No snow in Beaumont, Texas.

Here is my entry for the bottom of the barrel after I drove it home from New Mexico and cleaned it up a little. The pics don't really show how faded the hood and top are. Still my favorite free vehicle![attachment=1:25qz2xns]P1010557 post size.jpg[/attachment:25qz2xns]

I don't think I have ever seen that colour before, what is it called?
In V8 land we're better than you and we know it.
My brother who lives in north New Mexico owned "Rovie" for about 18 years and when he started doing well in life many years ago the '87 Classic was relegated to use only when he didn't want to drive whatever nice new suv he had at the time, maybe 3-4 times a year. It sat so much the clock would run the battery down. The 7,000 ft. elevation explains the faded hood and roof. Almost always dealer maintained with the engine and steering box replaced with used units in the last 5 years. I had been trying to buy it from him for several years and late last year he said if I really wanted it he would give it to me! My first real job was pushing parts at a MG, Triumph, Jaguar, and Lotus dealer so I had a good idea of what I was getting into and already knew most of the Lucas horror stories and jokes!
The color is just a polished and waxed Burgundy that really shows the dents and dings when it's clean (seldom this time of year).
Here is my 1990 RRC on 38" tires. The rear axle is moved 13 cm aft so you don't have to cut off the doors and get a better weight distribution when loaded and driving on snow. 4" bodylift and 4" suspension lift.
To bad there is no snow here in south Iceland now.

Jonket, are you getting 5 gallons to the mile in that thing? Icelanders sure know how to build 4x4s.
Colin
It is not that bad. It is 25 liters per 100 km in town. 18 l/100km on the highway. That would be about 9.5 miles per gallon in town and 13 mpg out of town. We pay about $ 6.00 per gallon here.
