    Ours, nor any of the ones I have worked on, do what you described. Thus I think you have an issue, maybe in the switches themselves. No way that pressing either the over ride or cruise button should make the EAS light all the way up, unless it was in a fault mode.

    On your lugnut issue, the P38 stock nuts are too large for the newer wheels. You can either machine the rims like you suggested or buy a set of lugnuts from the proper year truck. You should also be using hubcentric rings 72.6 x 70.5mm to help center things.
