I Just Brought a grease gun with a flexable hose. What do I grease besides the Prop shaft/U-joints?

Anything and everything you can find with a zerk fitting. Off the top of my head I don't recall any zerks for the ball joints on the P38, so props and U's will likely be it.

Just did the ball joints, used OEM stuff. No zerk fittings.

Did you just inject grease behind the seals or what? Mind giving me a how-to?

    Hi Chris

I think Bargepilot means that he just replaced the ball joints with new OEM units.

These ball joints are not expensive and when clearance develops in the joint it is time to replace them. You can lift the rubber boots off and smear grease under them but you are more likely to tear them apart as they become weak when they age. This will also not ensure that grease is making its way to the moving parts where it is needed.

    Regards

    Jos

Hi Chris, it's as Jos said. I bought new parts from a LR-specialist. OEM, from Lemförder I think. They came pre-greased - I checked.

Original ball joints were fine but the seals / rubber boot on one of them was torn. And that is a MOT-failure over here...

But I see where you're coming from. I looked up a lot of ball-joint-replacement-stories on google and I noticed quite a few cars (mostly american) with zerk fittings on the ball joints.

OH - OK I see what you are saying now Barge....I misunderstood your statement. I thought you meant you greased the ball joints (as part of a regular maintenance), my bad. Thanks for helping clear it up Jos. I should have read it more carefully.

Yeah my Jeep has a zerk fitting on the radio I think. They are everywhere on that thing.
