I have a '97 Range Rover 4.6 HSE. One day when I started the car, the instrument panel does not show its diagnostic lights except the SRS. The gauges do not work - needles of fuel, tachometer, odometer and temperature stay at zero. Gauge lights are okay, engine runs fine, aircon runs fine (except no light). Headlights, turn lights, everything works fine.
I brought the car to specialist. He removed my instrument cluster and put in another p38's instrument cluster (thats working) - still gauges do not work. He concludes that its the BeCM. Removed the BECM, opened it - everything looks okay except for some rusty portions which he removed and cleaned. Then put back the BECM. STILL the gauges do not work.
What could be the problem? Please advise possible causes of this problem.
