Low roof rack / expedition rack - max 200 cm - where can I find one?
Many parking buildings seem to have a ceiling clearing of 200 cms.
According to Wikipedia, the L322 Height is as follows (I've got a 2004):
73.3 in (1,862 mm) (2002–2005)
74.9 in (1,902 mm) (2005–2009)
73.9 in (1,877 mm) (2009–2012)
I'm not sure if the heights above is in normal riding setting, but I would assume so. Please feel free to correct this info.
I've been warned against relying upon setting the suspension in the lowered position - if the battery was to run flat in the car park, then booting it up agian would lead the car to raise to its normal position... ouch!
We frequently go skiing - and my first thought was to get regular roof bars and a ski box, but this will build far too high. I don't want to have to take the rack on and off after every ski trip - so a low expedition rack might be the thing for me??? if it exists... Also, an expedition rack looks awesome - especially if it is integrated with auxiliary lighting, flush mounted in a custom wind deflector to keep the noise down and still have the car look as it if is from this millennium..
I've seen quite a few pics of different racks, but no specs in terms of height. Any ideas???
