Stupid Question -- should truck have a skid plate under the tranny?

So I bought a 2006 RR HSE used back in December. Really love it. I've replaced the battery (low voltage causing random error messages) and the leaking transmission sleeve (along with a new pan/filter and new fluid).

The transmission pan is plastic, and on my truck, at least, is not protected by a skid plate. There are some holes underneath where it looks like a skid plate could be mounted. Should my truck have one that is just missing? Does Land Rover make such a part if it's not standard equipment? Thanks in advance.

My 2003 did not have one, but I had one made.

I think the ZF 6HP26 sump shield (p/n LR013913) was only fitted to Discovery 3 and Range Rover Sport models.

On my Sport, that "plate" is really just a thin heat shield mounted on a flimsy bracket, it offers no real protection to the transmission from a direct hit.

Thanks for the responses, everyone. I don't do serious off-roading, but if I start to, I'll look into fabbing up a plate to protect the plastic tranny pan.
