Hello all-
2005 Range 4.4
Beg pardon if this has been previously discussed. I have only found information about a rattling at idle such as the VANOS.
What I've got is a strangle metallic-sounding rattle and a straining sound when the car is cold. When I accelerate past a wall on the way to the road I can hear the sound "reflected" back at me. It mainly happens when the car is cold and it is only occurring at the top of the rev range in 1 and 2 before it up shifts. Sometimes on cold mornings I also get a belt squeal when starting, maybe related? Thoughts? Can anyone offer some insight?
Ive read about the cat converter weld failure issue, but I'm not sure what that sounds like or if this could be related in some way.
Thanks in advance
Chip
