    Re: Air Suspension Inactive Message

Replace battery and messages at start up go away. I would get HDC inactive often, then I got an engine failsafe (eek!) with no symptoms, and finally I got the air sups inactive, HDC inactive, ABS inactive the day before I went to the interstate shop.

They plugged in a power source to the OBD 2 computer port while swapping, so I did not have any error messages when they swapped the battery.

I taught them the bonnet service position technique and they wished I had come in earlier that week since they wrestled out a battery on another FFRR without knowing the hood/bonnet went up further...

Yeah I am definitely going to have that battery replaced. What I am a little confused about is the warning lights....there are none!? I have no warning lights at all.....the orange light beside the air suspension knob is also still there. When I turn the knob nothing happens, it just flashes a little bit at the position I am turning the knob towards and thats it.

Exactly the same symptoms I have. Does this mean I have to have the fault cleared by a dealer/indy shop or will it clear by itself eventually or if I replace the battery

    Thanks

Chris I think our best shot is either a new battery if you need one or a trip to the dealer.

Using the touch screen diagnostics (see Dashboard diagnostics thread) the battery voltage is displayed as 11.0 V so even though the only message is the suspension inactive (and none of the HDC or other spurious messages) I think I might need a new battery.

    Re: Air Suspension Inactive Message

OK, so the dealer offered a complimentary multi-point inspection this week, so I decided to take advantage of it. They checked out the air suspension inactive message and determined that it 'might be' the air suspension pressure relief valve. The battery is fine, and all other systems are working. So they cleared the fault, and now my air suspension works fine. Only time will tell if this is a software glitch or maybe a real fault. there is also a Tech bulletin related to this issue LTB00058.

For future reference, what is the best, most cost effective diagnostic tool I can use to save a trip to the local dealer to read EAS and other system fault codes, because the normal code scanners only show engine codes.

    Thanks

I'd focus on teh GAP unit and Story's kit.

    Re: Air Suspension Inactive Message

Well, on Saturday, my air suspension inactive message cam on again, so now I will need to get the pressure sensor and replace it, and the reset the message,

Is there any kind of air dryer used in the suspension, because it seems to me that it could be moisture related, as it was well below freezing, and maybe the moisture in the sensor froze and cause the issue, If there is a dryer in the system, maybe that isn't working very well or at all

    Re: Air Suspension Inactive Message

Hi, I've had the same problem on my 2003 TD6 Vogue. I used to have a bad battery that gave air suspension inactive signals, and solved the issue with the "turning the seering wheel" thing. One morning this winter however, at -20C (-5F), I got the air suspension inactive, and it would not go away. The car "locked" in normal riding position and all lights on the riding hight controller were off. The turning the steering wheel thing and the battery cable touching, did not resolve it. I put the car in a hot garage for two days - but that did not help either.

I then took the car to the dealers and had them check. Since we have cold winters here in the north I guess they have some experience with this fault. What they told me was that moisture gets caught in the air suspension system and the airfilter for the compressor. I guess the filter becomes full of ice and therefore does not let enough air pass into the compressor. When that happens, is that systems shuts down to "protect" the compressor. So they drilled a few small holes in the compressor filter, to make shure enough air could pass, reset the system, and the problem has been gone ever since. Perhaps replacing the filter in the compressor will give the same result..?

I hope this will help some of you.

I just returned from the dealer (Land Rover Flatirons) and all of my suspension, steering, weird electrical anomalies were all corrected by installing a new Interstate battery. That pretty much made my WEEK!

That will only calibrate the steering angle sensor, it won't reset your air suspension inactive if you've got an actual fault going on.

    Re: Air Suspension Inactive Message

I'm having the same issue as you and was wondering if there is any indy mechanics near Myrtle beach SC? My parents are vacationing down there and the "suspension fault" fairly often. I would rather not take it to a "stealership".
