    Engine Whine

I have just noticed tonight as i was driving home, a whine coming from my engine compartment on my '04. I noticed it as i accelerated out onto the main road. It is a lower whine at lower rpms but as you get into 5 thousand rpms it gets pretty loud. It makes this when accelrating hard. I am worried because i have no idea what is making the noise! I tried revving a bit at a stop and it made the same noise even at low rpms. you can hear it in and outside the car. The more i drive it, the more noticable the noise. Then when i turn it off and back on, It starts over.
Any help would be MUCH appriciated before i bring it back to the dealer for the 3rd time this month!
