I have the problem with my MY 2017 RRS. Doesn't recognize my trailer trailer led lights.
Also, I have had no success in getting the camera calibrated to the trailer target for the tow assist program. The orange area designated on the camera screen won't turn green when the target sticker is clearly within the orange field of view.
Seems there still are cars with issues and others with none. I finally decided to stop towing with my older Cayenne Turbo and find out how my 2016 RRS would do. My dealer had assured me that I would not have any issues but based on what I had read here I was hesitant and I wanted to make certain it was fully broken in before towing. Hooked up my 2017 Starcraft travel trailer this past Thursday and the RRS recognized the trailer no problems. Tows like a dream I keep having to look back to make sure it is still behind me!
Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I have a solution to share. I am buying a new airstream and was not comfortable hacking into the wiring harness to install resistors so I purchased the Curt adapter for German vehicles for $30 on ebay. It did nothing. The Airstream will use the 7 pin of course so I was thinking maybe I could wire up something to draw the load from the 4 pin to trick the Rover. I decided to buy magnetic trailer lights that people stick on the trunk of a car that is being towed. I found a set on Amazon with bulbs for $20. I plugged them in and I get the 2 symbols in the upper right corner telling me that the parking sensors have been disabled while in reverse. My plan is to stick the lights to the frame under the airstream and zip tie the extra pigtail to the factory trailer harness. I hope this helps some rover towers. Is there anything else that I should look for on the infotainment areas to let me know that that the rover has engaged the towing features? I have a 2016 RRS TD6.
So are you saying plug the Airstream into the 7 pin socket and the auxiliary trailer lights into the 4 pin? BTW, I too have a 2016 TD6. 34K miles and so far so good and getting 25.6 MPG in my daily 20 mile round trip commute. I have the factory tow package but haven't needed to tow yet.
Yes. I haven't taken delivery of the airstream yet but I am using a bluetooth brake controller which is inline on the 7 pin socket. I know the brake controller is getting power while the 4 pin is running the magnetic tow lights so I am fairly certain that you can use both at the same time. I have had 60k trouble free miles from my diesel. I love it.
