    3rd Row Seating

Anyone heard if the added interior size will facilitate an optional third row of seats in the new RR?

Third row seats have been available for all Range Rovers since the P38 came out. They are extremely pricey but great fun for the kids.

I read somewhere that the next RR Sport will have the option of a built-in 3rd row. Haven't heard anything about the FFRR.

Was at the dealer getting my rotors and pads replaced on my '11 and asked the sales guys. They were pretty sure third row seats would not be a manufacturer option on the new full size RR.

I have never seen Land Rover offer a third row seat option on the Range Rover. If there is such a thing, it must be aftermarket.

There are a couple of companies that make them for P38 and Mark III. Overfinch makes both solid bench as well as split design.

Yes, but they are more of an add-on than a factory option. They just don't look right, IMHO.

If they were smart, they'd offer the option of captain's chairs in the 2nd row, and a bench in back. There are many families that like that option. That way you can get the rear passengers to hop right down the middle of the car to the back, and two in the captain's chairs. That's van utility in a sport utility. See the Ford Explorer and GMC/Chevy Acadia/Traverse. People are eating that config up. You would think their engineers already know this, right?

I really don't like comparing the FFRR to any other full size truck because it's just not full-sized.

Would you be able to tell me where one can have one ordered or made for a RR?

Until the Mark IV has been on the market for a period htey won;t be available. I imagine the same suppliers will follow suit that are making them for the P38 and Mark III.

I realize we're talking about aftermarket options here, but had to add in this quote from Gerry McGovern in Automobile magazine. McGovern is adamant, though, that the range-topping Range Rover will not succumb to the three-row trend: "A Range Rover is a selfish purchase, an indulgence. It's not for hauling kids."

Just putting this out there, but I'd wager a chunk of money that LR didn't design the rear crumple zone with 3rd row seats in mind.

Now there is a killer great idea. I always thought it was a roof rake, access and spare tyre access issue. I never would have given crash testing a thought.
