The bigger the problem, the bigger the hammer!
Looks great! I'm so happy they didn't lower the windows and roofline (the way they did with the Evoque). And I'm also happy to see the new LED-lights. It looks much better than the current design.![]()
Thanks for the post!

looks like the mirrors have blinkers on them and the tailgate is one piece. Not sure If I like either of those additions.
It’s an interesting picture for sure.
My initial impression was one of surprise as I was expecting something a bit more revolutionary then evolutionary.
A closer inspection reveals a few aspects. I was shocked to see such height, such slabby sides and when you compare to the L322 you can see there is a more sheet metal above both front and rear wheel arches.
There is allot of false panels on this car so I am less convinced that it has a one piece tail gate. In fact it looks like a twin gate to me. There also appears to be either tape or a panel covering the front of the front doors.
The roof line has been disguised to hide what looks like more wedge. I think the front screen is more raked and to me it looks like a higher waste line and reduced glass area or at least a glass area with more taper.
Clearly the rear door is bigger in length but it is the sheer height of the side sheet metal that has me a bit perplexed.
also, if you look at the panel bolted to the bonnet, you can see that the bolts are recessed by about a considerable amount, which if you assume that its bolted to the real bonnet panel, then that really would imply the new bonnet is lower.
also, if you look at the side pics, and the top area of the rear door glass, there is a line covering the top 4" of the glass by the camo vinyl, that line flows forward to the inside of the front door interior ... that could show the sloping roof wedge ...

That’s the conclusion I came to as well or at least it’s what the camouflage is possibly trying to concede. While the absolute height of the bonnet line might not be much difference the actual thickness appears to be very different. By my eye it looks like more substantial sheet metal giving a higher waist or shoulder if you like, and smaller glass area that has more shape.Originally Posted by fisha

Looks sweet. Can't wait to see what it will look like in production. Hopefully, it will shed some weight as well. At first glance it doesn't look like it is substantially bigger than the L322, unlike the new Land Cruisers/Patrols.
I sure hope they don't lose the tailgate. Its one of the best features of any RR.

They've been screwing around with the roofline. It looks like a Volvo now.
A couple of observations:
I think the two big boxes attached to the lower tailgate door are there to hide the fact the the "indentation" that holds the license plate will now extend all the way to the tail lamps (like the old classic model.)
The overall shape seems to be retained. It IS an evolution and NOT a revolution, unlike what happened to the Jaguar XJ. The basic Range Rover shape is timeless.
The Range Rover Sport "wedge" (where the window line narrows as it reaches the rear of the car) seems to have been used. Hopefully, the new Rover won't look just like a "giant" Sport.
Really curious to see what thry're going to do with the front end. My money says they'll go with two oversized headlamps like the new Bentley look.

Like your thinking.
Larger but lighter...looking forward to the detailed explanation of that.
My burning question is: "Will the TDV8 come to the US market?"
Sadly, I think I already know the answer. If I'm wrong, however, it's time to start looking for $10,000 bills that might have fallen between the cushions of my sofa.

The Range Rover will ALWAYS have a 2 part rear hatch, it's a pillar of the design, just like it will ALWAYS have a floating roof design. Count on it.

This is not the new Range Rover, but I thought I'd post it to show the new design direction of Land Rover. The new Range Rover may or may not have a few styling cues from the new Land Rover DC100 concept.
As Jalopnik said, it looks like an Evoque mated with a Defender.
