    New Range Fall of 2012?

I stopped by my local RR dealership today. I've bought 2 Range Rovers and a Jag from them, so they treat me pretty well. I asked them about picking up a new Range and they basically told me not to do it now, wait a year and get the brand new range. They don't have to much info on it but there is a bit of change. Rumors of the hybrid are just rumors and probably won't happen in the States.

Don't quote me on this information, but does anyone have further knowledge of the 2013 Range Rover HSE?

    Thanks,
    2004 Range Rover HSE

Re: New Range Fall of 2012?

It's supposed to be a whole new platform, derived from the current Jaguar XJ chassis and making heavy use of aluminum, along with alloy and other lightweight composite materials for shell and various components, so it should be substantially lighter than the current model. The Sport and LR4 will eventually use modified versions of this chassis as well, but the new flagship should come first as a MY2013 model. Let's just hope they don't give up on go-anywhere capabilities and strength in the process. I imagine the interiors and exteriors will be heavily redesigned as well, and the car should be larger overall (and the interiors even more luxurious, according to some reports.) Test mules have been photographed on various testing grounds and are all over the net, but the prototypes are shelled in the current body, so they give little cues on future design.

Sounds like it's about time for a MarkIV forum.

The question is do you really want to have the brand new model the first year it's out? I would wait two years, or if you have your own company and have the option to expense the payments you might want to lease a car for 3 years.

I'll never touch a first model year again. My 300 was in the shop so many times that the service manager finally started coming out to the house to pick it up. Look at the slew of issues with the latest update to the L322 last year. Nooo thanks.

I got the 2006 RR Sport in its first year of production. Only had one problem in 4 years.

In fairness, test mules of the RRS drove around the world for a full model year (cleverly disguised as 2005 LR3s... ) before being produced.

From AutoShow mag. They say it's due end 2012 and that there'll be a new model too, between Evoque and Sport.

I really hope that is not the new full size. From the back it looks like a Mercedes or x5 and from the front it just looks cheap.

From the back, it looks like a cross between a Ford Flex and a Mercedes. The front looks like a crossover vehicle. They have taken every last bit of character, substance and class from the Rover and replaced it with a pimp daddy boulevard cruiser. It will probably sell well.

Looks like they took a Sport and pumped it up with a tyre pump and let let some kid pimp it out. UGH.

This is what the Lincoln SUV should look like, not the Rover.

That's a weird 'shop of a Sport, an Evoque, and a Mercedes GL - there is absolutely zero chance the new FFRR looks like that.

Re: New Range Fall of 2012?

It looks like maybe the next Sport. It appears too small to be the next FFRR. Looking through the windows, the rear seats are too far into the back end, and there does not appear to be much head room.

Perhaps this is the "new" vehicle slotted between Evoque and Sport?
