It's not a real car! It's a really poorly put-together Photoshop - it's not going to be the new Sport, the new FFRR, or even the entirely new one. Unless Range Rover and Mercedes are teaming up to make a Sport Evoque GL450, that image is worthless!

Yep. That's a bad photochop of a Sport. I bet the next Rover looks nothing like that.

Magazine photochops rarely ever wind up looking like the actually car.

I am going to guess that that is the 7 Seat Sport. I will definitly hold my opinion until more pictures come in. This is the first time seeing those 2 picts. The front grill looks like that of the DC100.

If the attached is the real look of the new LR-RR, I may move on up from a RRS. This rendition is classic yet updated and has no Evoqueness. Just need to make sure they do not go over the top with LED's. I'll take mine in Black!

New off-road tech for next Range Rover 16 November 2011
    • Terrain-i system on new Range Rover
    • Selects which off-road mode car should be in
    • Tech could trickle down to other models
The next Range Rover will have ground-breaking off-road technology when it is launched at the end of 2012.

Called Terrain-i, the tech is a more sophisticated version of the company's Terrain Response system, which is fitted to all models. The new version uses a suite of electronic aids, so that drivers don't need to select which type of electronic off-road assistance is needed – the car 'looks ahead' at the terrain and does it for you.

Also on the new Range Rover will be a Wade Aid device, which uses sonar to measure water depth ahead to ensure that it is safe to traverse. It will also, if required, pre-select the correct speed and gear required to go through the water.

The Terrain-i system also uses cameras to look ahead and assess topography of the environment you are driving in. It decides whether the car is capable of negotiating the terrain and if not, the sat-nav reroutes you.

In time, this technology, or parts of it, will trickle down to other Land Rover models. However, the next all-new Range Rover is likely to have other technologies designed to improve its on-road performance.

Insiders claim it will be around 500kg lighter than the current model, mainly due to its aluminium construction and other weight-saving technologies. It will also be correspondingly superior to drive, and use less fuel than the current car.

I guess this shows what you referenced in the other thread about the terrain response dial.

But what if I really, really, reeeeallly want to go that way, will it let me?

In a couple more years, I wonder if they will still allow a driver to be behind the wheel or if we will be required to stay home so our Range Rovers can go out off-roading all by themselves while we watch them on an iPad. It's safer that way.

With a couple more cameras and a few more rediculous lawsuits it may very well happen.

Customers don’t expect you to be perfect.
They do expect you to fix things when they go wrong.
