obviously this is an opinion question so I'll bite, I had it in an Escalade I had back in 2013 but I haven't put it in any cars since then. If you look in the Land Rover connected apps you can 'find' your car in that. Not sure how well that works in a stolen car situation but I assume it could be used for that. Congrats on the LWB I have loved mine!
1) Lojack can be tracked in underground parking garages and buildings where satellite based inControl cannot.
2) Having may lower insurance premiums potentially paying for over period of time
Also, if you are picky may have wait 6 months or more for another custom build if vehicle is stolen so may want more security.
I know this is an old thread. I am in the middle of a transaction for a CPO RR LWB. They are trying to sell me LoJack for $1,250 and telling me about the insurance discounts. I checked with Usaa and I would save $2.45 per month. I would need to drive this car for 42.5 years to make up for that...
The only vehicles that I would install LoJack or any aftermarket alarm/tracking system on would be a classic or something rare that would be hard to replace. Other than that, I just keep my Insurance premiums paid up and I always arm the factory alarm whenever the vehicle is going to be out of my view...just to secure any small valuables that I might have left inside. My peace of mind is knowing that my insurance will take care of everything if the vehicle does become stolen or damaged.
I’m with you, Ray. This was just my baptism into the world of Land Rover. I signed for my rig today, and will pick it up on Monday! I am excited for the adventure. Still shopping aftermarket warranties for when CPO expires in a couple years... I have been searching the forum but can’t find much advice there. Many of the companies mentioned no longer cover range rovers.
