    Text Message Notification

Is there no way to get notifications of your text messages though InControl? I just took delivery of a 2017 RR and can't seem to find a way for this to occur. Read through the manual and searched the forums, but didn't find anything. I've tried both Android and Apple, but neither allows the option to turn message notification on over BT which I'm assuming means the Range Rover doesn't support it? Works fine in my other cars.

Nope. Whats worse is the BT will turn off the sound on your iPhone so you don't know a message came in either. Just have to pick it up and look at it, boy thats safe

So what does your wife's Porsche have to do with Range Rover capabilities? What other car companies do have nothing to do with Land Rover. We really do not need to beat that horse again. Let's stay on topic and come up with a yes or no answer instead of wandering out in right field.
Have you ever listened to someone for awhile
and wondered who ties their shoelaces for them?

Apologize if you took it as a beat on...it was not meant to....but with the '17 getting a new info system I would expect it as a feature and possibly it is an issue with an iphone vs Android...

I spoke to my "Encore Specialist" yesterday and he confirmed it isn't a feature at all. Apparently the Evoque and Discovery can do it, but the RR can't. I'm baffled to be honest. They made so many steps forward with this new operating system, but I guess this is one of those things that didn't make it into the new OS.

No, not an option. And as mentioned, if you have your ph bluetoothed you can even get audible notification of texts, emails from your phone w/o swiping up in your iPhone and swapping the connection from car back to phone.

Maybe with this new info system, it has the ability to be upgraded when some new features become available...

I don't think you are missing much with texts not appearing in the dash. I have cars with that functionality and I disabled the feature because it starts feeling like I'm in the office. My other cars can show emails and read them too. I'm in the RR to relax and get to my journey *peacefully and in style.

Yes, this does indeed seem to be the case. If I look at the supported Bluetooth profiles under the connection to the InControl Touch Pro 10.2 on my phone "Messaging" isn't listed. Only Voice and Music are listed. In my other cars where messaging does work through the infotainment, that connection always lists Messaging too.

I was able to find an advanced setting in my phone (Windows 10 mobile), to use a legacy audio mode for Bluetooth speech. This causes all speech activities over Bluetooth to act like a phone call. Now whenever I receive a new message it opens a "phone" session and allows me to interact with my digital assistant (named "Cortana" on Windows) just using my voice. Now I can read, reply, callback etc. all hands-free. I'm very pleased as I would have really missed the ability to use messaging hands-free.

I don't know if iOS or Android allow anything similar.
