    Dynamic Coupe info...

It's a sunny nice day here in Wisconsin. I have had my Evoque Coupe for a little over a week. I used my free time today to take it for a real drive.

Before I state anything, I would like to say I LOVE my Evoque. It is everything I wanted and more. My last car was an Infiniti EX which was a real pooch compared to this. I am not a "motor head" but I do like cars, so I will do my best to share what I have noticed.

Gas Mileage: I am getting about 280 miles per tank (right before I hit the red line). My dash computer says I am getting 20 miles per gallon. I don't think this is fabulous. I did expect better, but yet to me gas is worth the ride.

Off Road: I took it on a wet gravel road/snow test and switched my program to the one with the snow and mud. Doing a loop at a higher speed kicked my back end around. It slid and caught itself when the car was straight. I liked it! The back end sliding really helped me do the tight circle better and at no time did I feel out of control!

Transmission: I noticed in 2nd and/or 3rd gear around 3000 rpms a low growling noise almost as if I am driving too slow for the gear the car automatically put me in. It definitely is strange. I don't know if this is normal. It occurs when I am driving in the city at around 30mph. Once I step on the gas a bit and get it past the "bogged down" point, it does fine. Maybe it's the new type of engine? I don't know if it's supposed to do that or if it's a transmission programming flaw.

Other than the things stated above, I love pulling on to a highway. I have no worries as to whether or not I can pull out into traffic. It is quick to get up to speed (thank you turbo!). Seats are so comfortable and the panoramic roof is beautiful. I feel like I am one with nature (sorry if that sounds creepy). Anyway, for all of you considering an Evoque, it's an amazing vehicle. I have no complaints. Just don't buy one in my hometown, because I enjoy being the only one driving one right now! I get a lot of looks!!!!!!!!
    See you on the road!

    Re: Dynamic Coupe info...

    Well Mardis Gras,

Since you are interested...I am going to tell you more!!!

First I have to edit the above...
    1. The gas mileage I determined was by setting my trip computer at fill up 3 times. The mileage is based on 50% hwy and 50% city.
    2. The possible "bogged down" feeling I meant to write occurs at 2000 rpm in 2nd gear (not 3000)...oops.

Good news! It snowed here and I turned on my "snow program". I have never driven a car that handled so well in snow. Seriously. I have owned many AWD and 4WD cars. Never, have any been like this. It seriously feels almost like dry pavement when I drive on snow. No slipping, got through a huge drift at the end of my driveway, no problem. It's amazing to me.

The braking in snow is shocking. It doesn't make the loud ABS sound and stop 100 miles later. It just stops. Any ABS sound that I hear is brief and quiet.

Acceleration in the snow is literally like there is nothing there. Although, I don't drive it too crazy in the snow because I am not a fan of being pulled over. Turning is the same. Hardly any slipping or stability problems. Slim to none. You can shut off the stability control if you get stuck in a drift which seems highly improbable in this machine. (But I'm sure I will find a way at some point! HAHAHA)

I thought for sure I would have some issue in the snow because of the low-profile 20" tires (mine are Continental Cross Contact). But it's like driving with a truck tread! I notice nothing!!! It's amazing. And of course the "Maximum" window thaw setting and heated steering-wheel definitely is a perk in this weather! When I back up, the rear wiper even automatically turns on if the auto-wipers are on.

My last car was an Infiniti EX with VDC (vehicle dynamic control) and that was NOTHING like this!!!!!!!!

Even better, I have been approached by two people (one at a gas station, and one at a diner) about my car. They were people I don't know (guys). They look, ask, they love it. The guy at the gas station said "I didn't know they made these in a coupe!!!".

Another thing I found the other day was that my mirrors automatically fold in when I lock the car (I turned it on).

My car by the way is actually the picture I have as my avatar. I have a couple more pictures in my "garage" on this forum. Good luck with the wait! I ordered mine ages ago, so yours should be coming soon! Hang in there!
Last, I'll give you a picture of a really cool feature. Here's the puddle lamp that goes on when you approach the car at night...it has a shadow of the Evoque in it! Coolest surprise ever! Love it!!!

I am new to this fourm and have never owned a Range Rover or Land Rover. I am in Love with the Evoke, but i do too much research according to my wife, and i am concerned about the overall quality of the range rover. Can any one help me out here? i am ready to pull the trigger, but i dont want to spend 50 thousand plus on a mistake.
    thanks so much

    Re: Dynamic Coupe info...

'Weathersis' thinks it is great, obviously..... although perhaps that 'puddle light' gizmo mentioned above is an 'emergency LR-Call Out' signal for the local garage, Batman-Style ??.....

[Any more feedback, Weathersis, 2+ months on ?]

My neighbour (and his wife) really like his too - but have only owned it for a few months - and he did not like me referring to it as the 'replacement/redesigned Freelander' until I showed him this, either :-

    http://www.whatcar.com/car-news/rang...new-era/256347

    - Overall the re-design seems more cosmetic than practical.... or to put it another way "does '70-80%' of 'new engineering/design' mean that 70-80% of the tried & tested technology is gone too" ? We will see: Some engines are derived from Ford.... Patently reducing weight and MPG issues (and diesel engines...) are key features, in part due to EU factors (prices of fuel, emissions targets etc)...

If you are OK with it not being 'real Range Rover' (whatever that means) and the idea that it is 'more appealing to women' (although I don't know why, with its terrible rear-view vision...... probably better stop there..), and the fact that it has not been round long enough for any 'quality issues' to appear (particularly relating to reliability) then why not ? (- Someone has to...!); Organise a test drive, armed with all your research/questions (but don't take your check book ??...)..... and let us all know how it goes ? [We should start a new section on the Forum - 'Evoque Dealer Stories' ?]

It is always a risk buying the newest/latest model of anything, of course...... and that's why your 'Evoke' research is vital, too !! Personally, and from experience, I would 'wait a while' ...
