Do I think of Range Rover? Not really, rather either as mentioned earlier a Truck, Evoque, or Land Rover. I purchased my evoque as one poster above has said because of its luxury, and sporty styling irrespective of the 'name' you place on it. I definitely would not consider it a RR in the classic sense, and am glad of that particular distinction. I do think just as the sport helped the LR brand with an infusion of sales, so will the evoque. This in turn may benefit the purisits here, in that R&D will be very well funded and they may indeed benefit in future RR models from some additional cutting edge technologies.

So in essence, I am happy with what I have and what I don't have as I have come to peace with the distinction. I am truly blessed and currently have more than I can say grace over, so I am thankfull. Long live the purists and long live the evoque.

And a Range Rover is not a 'Truck' or an 'SUV', Its a Range Rover!!!!

A truck is a thing that has a cab and an open area at the back where you chuck in bags of cement and stuff, and an SUV is a 'Sports Utility Vehicle', it is not a Range Rover!

I drive a Range Rover. No, it is not a $100k truck/SUV/SAV/luxury utility vehicle, it is 10 years old and cost a 1/10th of that. But it introduced me to the marque and I absolutely love it, quirks and all. I bought it for one reason - to go offroad. It fits my bill perfectly and drives amazing on and offroad. I have already spent more than half of my purchase price on offroad accessories and modifications. I am now involved with a local Land Rover club and have met some great people and been on some amazing offroad trips. Because of the P38, we are buying an LR3/LR4 for my wife this fall and will be spending a great deal more money. If fits her bill great. Nice interior, all-wheel drive for the mountains and 7 seats. If the Evoque brings in new buyers and sells more cars/trucks, then the marque stays alive. I sat in an Evoque at the dealership and was pleasantly surprised. The interior is amazing and at 28mpg, it is 'fuel efficient.' You also can't deny the multitude of awards the car has earned in its first year. Pretty amazing...

Its all just marketing... can't we all get along?

This cracks me up! I'm trolling here to see what owners think of their Evoques, not whether it's worthy of the RR name. Other than one-off customs, all production vehicles are globally sourced and use parts from other brands' platforms. Does it really matter? Practically all major brand is being forced to either be owned by a mass market manufacturer or deliver products to the mass market themselves for survival and hopefully prosperity. Very few exceptions. I applaud LR for recognizing this and delivering the Evoque. it's stylish, probably more reliable than most of their past products, and appeals to their target market. As a previous poster stated in a different way - those of you who love the brand should appreciate that if they succeed, they'll probably sell more Evoques than all other models combined and bring profits and resources to LR for the benefit of all of their products.
