    Got to drive one!

Our dealership hosted an event unvieling the evoque. They had free food and drinks (booze too), live music, the works. I was too quick to judge, it is an engineering marvel. I signed up the next day to drive one. WOW that thing is FAST! So much fun to drive. I scoffed at the fact it only had an I4 engine, but **** can that thing get up and go! I'm glad its not replacing the traditional range rover, but it is an excellent addition to the rangie family. So much fun! Lucky are the people who get to own them. I will have to wait till they are a few years old .

Also got to see and drive the Evoque. Visually outstanding. It was a little bigger than expected, which I liked.
Really liked the red exterior, and the tan leather is also impressive. Saw sample cards of Barolo and Havana and they are stunning in bright sunshine.
Not impressed with the solid glass roof - looks great especially sitting in the rear seats - but here in Texas the solid cover would stay closed most of the time.
A/C is good. Evoque had been sitting in 110f sunshine before our test drive.
Ride comfort and noise levels are great. Outward side and rear visibility was much better than I had expected.
Performance was good, but not exceptional (comparing to our Mini Cooper S which is slated to be replaced by the Evoque, and our BMW X3 35i).
Trying to get over the way the Evoque is being packaged. Please correct me if I have got these wrong.
Only prestige has passenger seat height adjustment and leather dash topper.
Only dynamic gets anthracite headliner and perfed leather.
No solid roof option in the U.S. and no moonroof option at all.
Really like it, but for these prices it's a pain having to compromise on some features.
    Swiftly & with style!!!

Here are some pictures of it, took them with my phone so they are not the best in quality. I go to drive the green one.

Got to drive an SD4 Dynamic Coupe Auto at Gleneagles Hotel Evoque Unleashed event last Sunday - apart from a rather vocal little 4 pot 2.2ltr (only loud under hard acceleration but not quite up to TDv8 smoothness and silence) it met all my expectations and exceeded some.

I was invited out yesterday for the LR Experience Evoke display,we spent around an hour out on our own driving the 5 door diesel variant.Afterwards at supper,(Which was very good ) it occured to me that LR have hit the nail on the head with this model - its a womans car.It is a sensible size, has all the off road ability it will ever need and its badged a Range Rover. The very nice lady I sat next to at supper had paid in full for hers months ago - she actually uses a small Diahatsu 4wd in winter beacause of where she lives. She had always wanted a Range Rover - and clearly could afford one,but was put off by the sheer size of it.
By the way as a car with off road ability I thought it was very impressive, with excellent acceleration and roadholding, more than eough for the UK's crowded and often poorly surfaced roads.
    Think beyond -

I drove one as well - very impressed on all fronts - syling, roominess, power, amenities. Great addition to my wheeling Rovers if I could pop for one!

    Re: Got to drive one!

I drove one briefly the other day. First thing that struck me was how small it is in the flesh. Parked next to a full-size Range Rover it looks absolutely tiny. The space inside is bigger than you'd think though. In the 5-Door I drove there was plenty of space for 5 adults, fine knee and heardroom too.

I drove the SD4 which was nice and smooth and quite responsive too. Body roll is a lot less than in a RR or RRS and it really does handle like a saloon.

I won't be going for one now though as don't want to wait so long. Might be interested in the bigger Evoque if it actually come out.
