Rover All Comms - Video Update

So some have been following the progress on my most recent project; Rover All Comms. The Rover All comms will allow communications with all of the vehicle diagnostic subsystems on the P38a Range Rover, Discovery II Land Rover and the L322 Range Rover vehicles. This is the progress so far. The release should be 1st quarter of 2011. Please let me know what you think. I have been hard at work on this for close to a year.

Will this software/hardware combination support the RRS? Will it allow me to change settings to the car (i.e. illuminations, parking distance sensors, etc.)?

Unfortuantely no, the software will not work with the LR3/RRS or any other Ford manufactured Land Rover vehicle. This is only for the P38a, DiscoII and the L322.

I would have never gotten this far if it were not for the gentle and not so gentle, more or less weekly, email reminders from Land Rover owners. So thanks guuys for the encouragement and pestering.

Amazing work. From the vid I gather that the hardware is finished and you're "just" working on the software ?
Best of luck with the project

So whats the likely costs of this kit once its ready for sale? Very clever for something that does actually look so simple even i could operate.

Ahh the price...That is the big question on everyones mind.
I do not yet have a final number on costs from my manufacturer. There was a very serious problem with the supply of a critical component in the hardware. The part went Enf of Life without a replacement part overlapping. So I had to basically purchase as many of these parts as possible. I purchased about 4000 units of these parts that will hopefully keep everything in operation until the replacement part is ready. This may increase the time to delivery a few weeks and may influence the final cost of the product. In the end, the retail price that I am aiming for is around 250-300 USD. This price point should still be extremely afforddable to everyone.

I will be trying to acquire one too the moment they are available. Sounds like it will be reasonably priced, and with the software being open source... I think the community will help make the software stronger and stronger over time. Can't wait.

The greatest thing I see coming of this is a sense of community. We will have an excellent product from a known and trusted vendor. We all know that Storey gives stellar customer service. Most importantly is that everything is right here and in the open.

Definitely very, very, very interested here in Holland. Keep up the good work, you know we love you.
To protect your Land-Rover against theft, always remove the ignition keywhen parking.
As an additional precaution the distributor rotor arm may also be removed.

He said first quarter 2011, so I guess that means just over 2 months remaining at most, since software release dates are so easy to predict and stick with, especially when it is a side project
